A 55-year-old Kalispell woman pleaded guilty Thursday in Flathead District Court to a felony charge of tempering with or fabricating physical evidence.

According to a court document, Lynn Harmon helped hide and dispose of evidence related to charges against her 51-year-old brother, David Carr.

Carr is alleged to have broken into a woman’s apartment on June 3, stabbing her in the neck and holding her at knifepoint for more than an hour before fleeing. He allegedly told her he planned to kill her, then commit suicide.

The court document states that after Carr fled, he went to Harmon’s apartment. He allegedly had blood on his hands and clothes and asked her to “help me, sister,” and told her what had happened.

Harmon allegedly told a detective on June 7 that she told him to go get cleaned up and took his bloody clothes when he returned and threw them in a trash container. She also allegedly said she did not have the knife but could find it.

The detective again visited Harmon on June 8, at which point she allegedly retrieved a knife from under her couch and gave it to him, telling him that after Carr gave it to her, she had cleaned it with alcohol and buried it.

If convicted, Harmon faces up to 10 years in prison and a fine of up to $50,000. Her sentencing was set for Feb. 14.

Carr initially pleaded not guilty Sept. 20 to felony charges of assault with a weapon and burglary, but changed those pleas on Tuesday, instead pleading guilty to the charge of assault with a weapon. The burglary charge was dismissed.

Carr also pleaded guilty by way of Alford to felony tampering with or fabricating physical evidence. A second felony charge of tempering with witnesses or informants was dismissed.

He is set to be sentenced Jan. 10.
