Jack passed away on Sept. 27, 2012, after his battle with cancer.
He was born in Joliet, Ill., on Feb. 5, 1947. Born to Michael and Emily Paul Gleason, Jack was the youngest of four children. He graduated from Joliet Catholic High School in 1964 and entered the Marine Corps in December 1967. A Vietnam veteran, he was awarded the Navy Achievement Medal.
Jack was a retired accountant and volunteered at the Habitat for Humanity in Coeur d’Alene.
Jack was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his loving wife of 43 years, Diane (Helbling) Gleason and his three sons, John Patrick Gleason Jr. of Coeur d’Alene, James Louis Gleason of RSM, Calif., and Jeffrey Paul Gleason of Mission Viejo, Calif.; three grandchildren, Liam Gleason, Kyleigh Gleason and Baby Gleason expected February 2013; one brother, Robert E. Gleason of Joliet; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jack was an avid reader, always with a book in his hand. He enjoyed traveling by car to almost every National Park in the U.S., visiting family and various major baseball fields. Jack loved golfing, playing poker with his friends. He could answer every question on Jeopardy. He loved the Anaheim Angels, Notre Dame, Oregon Ducks and San Diego Chargers. He enjoyed going to sporting events with his three sons and playing with his grandchildren.
Jack was an active parishioner at St. George Catholic Church in Post Falls.
Jack was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister Margaret (Peg Gleason) Manola and sister Sheila Gleason.
Memorial services to be held at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Rowland Heights, Calif. Interment at Miramar Veterans Cemetery in San Diego, Calif.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Hospice of North Idaho, Habitat for Humanity or the American Cancer Society.
