Was born March 10, 1922, the first of 10 children to Joseph and Katherine (Schmiesing) Ament, in Bluffton, Minn. He died Sept. 30, 2012, in Spokane Valley. He was 90.

Dad followed the love of his life, Vernie, to the great Northwest. Herb married LaVerne Rogers on Dec. 27, 1942, and they had five children, Ronnie Ament of Athol, Bonnie Morgan (deceased), Diane Isaacson of Spokane Valley, Dennis Ament of Post Falls and Barbara Haney of Spokane Valley. Herbert was the grandfather to 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.

His two passions in life were his wife and the woods and he also enjoyed woodworking. On behalf of the family, a special thank you to all of dad’s doctors and Hospice of Spokane for the excellent care taken of him.
