Mundel, Brunz top local runners in Missoula

The Columbia Falls cross-country teams competed in the Mountain West Classic in Missoula on Sept. 29.
Three hundred and twenty-five boys and 322 girls ran in the event, which draws top runners from across Montana and the Northwest.
Top runner for the girls was Samantha Mundel, who took 122nd with a time of 20:39.5. Meredith Stolte took 197th at 21:31.5, Carlee Brown was 205th at 21:35.4, and Brittany Swartz ran a season best 22:50.3 to take 262nd.
On the boys side, Zayne Brunz was 153rd with a time of 17:20.6, Glenn Morden was 277th at 18:50.7, Seth McCall was 278th at 18:52.0, Jace Fagerland was 286th at 19:12.3, and Dalton Nelson was 297th at 19:22.1.
“Mundel got out quick and ran a good race,” coach Richard Menicke said. “Brunz ran well, too.”
The team travels to Whitefish on Saturday for a meet at 11 a.m.
