MISSOULA — The No. 2 Flathead volleyball team cruised through the first two sets at Hellgate, before needing extra points to put away the Knights in the third, winning 25-11, 25-9, 27-25.

“We got on the bus a little too early,” Flathead coach Leon Wilcox said.

“They expected, after blowing out the first two (sets), Hellgate to help them do the same in the third. Hellgate didn’t help us, they actually scrapped. Our girls looked a little frazzled that they were competing with us.”

Cassie Krueger led the Bravettes with 15 kills and Emma Andrews had six blocks and five aces. Nouf Rashoodi had a team-high 14 digs.

Flathead (9-0 in Western AA, 15-6 overall) will play in the Missoula Invitational this weekend, along with all of the Western AA teams and a handful of Class A squads. Wilcox said he will use the tournament as an opportunity to try a few new things before the state tournament.

“After this all we have left is three conference matches,” Wilcox said. “We need to take this as an opportunity to focus.”
