The Columbia Falls girls soccer team blanked two conference opponents to end their regular season. The Wildkats beat the Bigfork Valkeries 4-0 on Oct. 2 and then pounded the Polson Lady Pirates 10-0 on Oct. 6. Danielle Delventhal and Alexi Corbett both had hat tricks against Polson.

The Cats went undefeated in conference play this year and didn’t give up a goal. Coach Greg Trenerry was pleased with the girls’ effort.

“They set their goals, and they accomplished them,” he said.

The Kats played stellar defense after the first week of the season. They never gave up a goal in conference play.

The girls will have their work cut out for them in the playoffs. They face Laurel in the opener at home this Saturday at 1 p.m. The Locomotives are the second seed in the east. The Kats beat them by a 3-2 margin earlier this season.

The girls ended their regular season with a 10-1-1 record. The lone tie was to Stillwater Christian School. Their only loss was to Billings Central in the opening match of the year. If the stars align, the Kats could face Billings Central again in the state championship. The Kats will have home field advantage throughout the playoffs.
