HOT SPRINGS - The Lady Savage Heat fought an intense battle against Arlee Thursday at home. They went five sets in the game (25-10, 26-24, 23-25, 23-25, 15-11) and came out with the win due to what Coach Pablo described as good blocking and recovery.

The first set consisted of a net-aggressive Hot Springs breezing past Arlee with aces and kills. Alex Green led the Lady Savage Heat attack with 12 kills overall, while Laurel Schmiedbauer put up 23 set assists to make the kills good.

However, the Scarlets stepped their game up in the second set, and it was a back-and-forth, point-for-point game from that set on.

The Lady Savage Heat were able to just edge out the Scarlets in the second set, but the third and fourth sets were a different story.

“The unnecessary mistakes were nerve-wracking,” Coach Pablo said. “But they managed to push through those two middle games and get the win. We worked a lot on blocking and recovering this weeek, and I give a huge atta-boy-girl to Coach Padden for that.”

The victory over Arlee put the Lady Savage Heat at 8-2 in conference play, 8-3 overall.
