COEUR d'ALENE - A former Kootenai County courtroom bailiff was sentenced on Thursday to five to 15 years in prison for felony sexual abuse of a 14-year-old girl.
Jack D. McPike, 31, of Athol, pleaded guilty to the charge in July in 1st District Court. Four other related charges were dismissed as part of a plea deal.
McPike admitted to sexual abuse of a family member that had been alleged from April and May of this year. He lost his job when he was arrested in May.
The Bonner County prosecutor's office handled the case because of McPike's previous employment with Kootenai County.
Bonner County Prosecutor Louis Marshall said visiting Judge Jeff Brudie, of 2nd District Court in Lewiston, retained jurisdiction.
That means McPike either will be placed on supervised probation or sent to prison to serve his sentence after he completes a treatment assessment and nearly year-long program while in the custody of the Idaho Department of Correction. McPike also has to register as a sex offender when he is released from custody, Marshall said.
