MIDDLETON - Sophomore Meaghan Bare scored a golden goal in the 98th minute to lift the Lake City Timberwolves past the Centennial Patriots 3-2 in double overtime of a state 5A girls play-in match Saturday at Middleton High.

Lake City (7-6-4) will face Highland (13-3-2) in the opening round at state Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at the Irma Anderl Soccer Complex at Lake City.

"We played really well," Lake City coach Matt Ruchti said. "Centennial is a well-coached and consistent team."

Bare also scored in the 15th and 55th minute for Lake City, which has now qualified for state four straight years.

"It was a great team effort today," Ruchti said. "To be traveling and playing in Middleton in the middle of nowhere, it was a good team win."
