SALT LAKE CITY - Rosie Robinson had 17 digs and three aces, but the sixth-ranked North Idaho College volleyball team lost to the fifth-ranked Salt Lake Community College Bruins 25-18, 25-16, 20-25, 25-17 in a Scenic West Athletic Conference match on Saturday at Bruin Arena.
"We weren't ready to play," NIC coach Kandice Gregorak said. "It showed in their faces in pass and serve and we had no emotion during warmup. Rosie added a lot of energy to our team and had a great game. It's really hard to win a game with 26 hitting errors and it was definitely a combination of inconsistent serve-receive, inconsistent setting and inconsistent hitters."
HayleeMae Dennis had 11 kills, Brooklynn Bradbury 19 assists and Yang Yang four blocks for NIC (17-3, 4-3 SWAC), which travels to the Community Colleges of Spokane on Tuesday.
Kaitlyn Molloy had nine kills and 15 digs for NIC.
"Kaitlyn was a perfect example of exuding passion," Gregorak said. "She was very mentally and physically prepared today and I'm very proud of her for that."
Mayra Ramirez had 15 kills, Maddie Bushman 13 kills and Cortney Godfrey 49 assists for Salt Lake (20-5, 5-2).
Third-ranked CSI (22-1, 7-0), which won at Salt Lake and Snow this weekend, travels to NIC on Friday night. A win by the Golden Eagles, or a Salt Lake loss, clinches the right for CSI to host the Region 18 tournament in three weeks.
