Cecelia Francis (Gribnau) Jacobs, 98, passed away at St. James By the Lake in Hayden on Oct. 14, 2012.
Cecelia was born in Taylor, N.D., on Oct. 10, 1914, to Frank and Eugena (Friedt) Gribnau. She graduated from Post Falls High School and was a lifetime resident of the Coeur d’Alene area.
Cecelia married Harold D. Jacobs on June 26, 1937, in Post Falls.
She was a member of St. Thomas Catholic Church as was active with the Catholic Daughters and Altar Society. Cecelia was a scout leader and enjoyed gardening, bingo, long drives, walking and sitting in the sunshine.
She is survived by her six children, son Bob Jacobs of Hayden Lake, daughter Dolores Johnson of Coeur d’Alene, daughter Linda and husband Bob Ely of Rathdrum, son Larry and wife Mary Jacobs of Coeur d’Alene, daughter Gayle and husband Jim Foote of Hayden, and daughter Mary and husband Don Yager of Spokane Valley; four sisters, Theresa Houck, Pat Sale, Norma Woock and Barbara Hippler; 12 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Cecelia is preceded in death by husband, Harold, in 1982; son Donald in 2009; three sisters and five brothers.
Memorials may be made to St. Thomas Ladies Auxiliary, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene, ID 83814.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 18, 2012, at St. Thomas Catholic Church, 919 E. Indiana Ave., Coeur d’Alene. Burial will be at the St. Thomas Cemetery. English Funeral Chapel, Coeur d’Alene, is in charge of the arrangements.
