  • Foot & Ankle:  Dr. Scott Brown is fellowship trained in functional reconstruction of the foot and ankle.
  • Hip Resurfacing:  Hip resurfacing is an alternative to total hip replacement aimed toward active adults who, historically, have an increased risk for failure of a conventional hip replacement.  It allows patients to have their arthritic, damaged hip bones reshaped and resurfaced, not removed.
  • Joint Replacement:   OSSM offers comprehensive care for patients with arthritic and pre-arthritic conditions of the hip, knee and shoulder requiring joint replacement/reconstruction.
  • Knee:  If your knee is severely damaged by arthritis or injury, it may be hard for you to perform simple activities such as walking or climbing stairs. You may even begin to feel pain while you are sitting or lying down.  If medications, changing your activity level, and using walking supports are no longer helpful, you may want to consider total knee replacement surgery. By replacing the damaged and worn surfaces of the knee we can relieve pain, correct leg deformity and help resume normal activities.
  • Arthroscopy:  Arthroscopic procedures can help our patients get back to their activities faster than open procedures.
  • Shoulders:  The shoulder consists of several joints that combine with muscles to allow a wide range of motion to the arm.  At OSSM our surgeons specialize in all aspects of shoulder care, including the treatment of disorders of the rotator cuff, instability and other disabling shoulder conditions.
  • Sports Medicine:   Sports Medicine specializes in preventing, diagnosing and treating injuries related to participating in sports and/or exercise, specifically the rotation or deformation of joints or muscles caused by engaging in such physical activities. We strive to get you back to your pre-injury activities as soon as possible.
  • Work-Related Injuries:   We only treat workers with State of Idaho Workers compensation claims. We strive to return you to your pre-injury work as soon as possible.

Patient Services ~Experience You Can Trust

In addition to the nine years of post-collegiate education and training required to become an orthopedic surgeon, most of the physicians at OSSM have also pursued advanced fellowship training in a number of orthopedic subspecialties. These specialties include adult hip and knee reconstruction (joint replacement), foot and ankle surgery, shoulder and elbow surgery.

Each of the physicians are board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery (ABOS), meaning they have met the rigorous education, evaluation, and examination requirements of the Board.

Sports Medicine

From weekend warriors to elite athletes, OSSM physicians have the expertise to diagnose and treat injuries related to sports and exercise.  Treatment and prevention for all orthopedic injuries includes exercise programs for increasing strength, flexibility and endurance, physical therapy and the use of protective equipment.  Surgery is the last resort for treating any injury.  All patients receive a recovery and rehabilitation plan to get them "back in the game" as quickly and safely as possible.
