KENT, Wash. - Alexander Delnov scored twice and added two assists to lead the Seattle Thunderbirds past the Spokane Chiefs 6-4 in front of 4,145 at the ShoWare Center in Western Hockey League play on Tuesday night.

Spokane's Mitch Holmberg scored his league-leading 10th goal on a breakaway 24 seconds into the second period. Mikulas Rimmel scored his first career WHL goal less than a minute later to give the Chiefs a 2-1 lead.

Seattle scored two goals less than three minutes apart to take a 3-2 lead before Adam Helewka scored to tie the game at 3 for Spokane.

Connor Sanvido scored with 22 seconds remaining in the third to give Seattle a 4-3 lead.

After Delnov's second goal of the game, Reid Gow scored his first goal of the season to cut the deficit to 5-4, but an empty-netter capped the scoring for Seattle (5-3-0-0, 10 points), which trails Spokane (6-3-0-0, 12 points) for third in the U.S. Division.

The teams play again Friday night at the Spokane Arena at 7:05.

* On Monday, the Chiefs traded goaltender Mac Engel to the Prince George Cougars in exchange for a fourth-round pick in the 2014 WHL Bantam Draft.

"We made the decision to move forward with Eric Williams and Garret Hughson as our goaltenders," Chiefs general manager Tim Speltz said. "Mac is a veteran goaltender and deserves an opportunity to play in the WHL and Prince George will provide him with that."

Engel went 42-28-3-4 as a Chief in 88 career appearances. In 2011-12, Engel went 28-19-1-3.
