Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 12 years, 3 months AGO
A fundraiser for a Coeur d'Alene woman battling cancer is scheduled this weekend.
A spaghetti dinner and silent auction fundraiser for Cynthia Shirley will be from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Coeur d'Alene Seventh-day Adventist Church, 111 E. Locust.
Shirley was recently diagnosed with brain cancer and stage four terminal lung cancer.
She has been an elder caregiver for more than 40 years and has more than 15 years as an activities director and assisted living administrator.
Shirley "has shown love and compassion for everyone she has ever cared for within the community and made many people feel loved and appreciated in their final days," according to a press release. "It is now time to give back to her."
Shirley recently started her chemo treatment and is unable to work as much, which has created a financial burden in her life.
Organizers of the dinner said they "want to make sure she is cared for in the same manner as she has cared for other."
The dinner is a $5 donation per plate or $15 for a family of four, dessert will also be available for a donation and a small silent auction will be held.
A large silent auction will be held Sunday, Dec. 9, from noon to 4 p.m. at The Coeur d'Alene Resort.
An account under Cynthia Shirley Medical Fund Account has been set up at Mountain West Bank.
