COEUR d'ALENE - Coeur d'Alene police Wednesday announced that an arson fire from July 29 was solved. The blaze significantly damaged a town-home building.
Coeur d'Alene police detectives and the Coeur d'Alene fire marshal received a tip that led them to two teenage male suspects for the fire on the 1600 block of Nettleton Gulch Road.
In addition to the town-home building, the fire damaged surrounding structures and vehicles.
Detectives interviewed the juveniles, and police said the boys confessed.
Sgt. Christie Wood said the boys allegedly sprayed a foam accelerant on the walls inside the town-home and lit the material on fire.
Wood said the boys are 13 and 14 years old.
A request for felony charges was sent to the Kootenai County prosecutor's office for both boys.
According to a news release, witnesses reported seeing two males fleeing the structure at the time of the fire.
The building was unoccupied and still under construction at the time of the fire.
The Kootenai County branch of Crime Stoppers of the Inland Northwest offered a financial reward for information leading to the resolution of the crime.
The Crime Stopper board issued a statement Wednesday saying that the tipster would be contacted and a financial reward would be delivered. The reward amount will not be disclosed, police said.
