Calvin R. Smith, 84, of Libby

Calvin R. (Kayo) Smith, 84, passed away Oct. 12, 2012, at his daughter’s home in Libby. 

He was born Sept. 4, 1928, in Libby to Henry and Edna Smith. Kayo attended school and was raised in Libby by his uncle Earl and aunt Alice McCrory. 

He married Dolores (Wienie) Ritzman March 6, 1948. They had three children Rod, Renee, and Wade.  He logged for J. Neils Lumber Co., St. Regis and then Champion International. He retired in 1993.

Kayo was an avid motorcycle rider.  After his retirement, he began to walk every day and walked many miles. His wife Dolores died in 2008 and then he took up bicycling and he loved it.  He made it a challenge and rode at least 4,000 miles a year and then last year in 2011 he rode 7, 000 miles.

He was well-loved by all and was very kind-hearted and loved everyone.  

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Dolores, two sons Rod and Wayne, and one great-granddaughter Ashly Nester.

Survivors include his daughter Renee Moen of Libby, many grandchildren, great- and great, great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews.

There will be no services for Kayo upon his request.  

Arrangements are by Schnackenberg & Nelson Funeral Home & Crematory in Libby.
