Officials investigate Mattawa death

MATTAWA - Grant County sheriff's officials continue to investigate an apparent homicide reported Tuesday outside of Mattawa.

A hunter reportedly found the body around 10:15 a.m. at the 22000 block of Road 26 Southwest. Detectives have confirmed the body as an adult, but have yet to confirm age or gender.

Initial evidence indicates the person died of a gunshot wound.

Sheriff's officials are asking that people with any information on the case contact Detective Ryan Green at 509-754-2011, ext. 468. Tips may also be emailed to [email protected].

An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday morning, Grant County Coroner Craig Morrison said.

Officials are requesting the public relate any information about recently missing friends or relatives, and that the information is shared with Spanish-speaking community members, a release said.
