PREP FOOTBALL: Late TD sinks Hawks' playoff hopes

MOSCOW - Facing fourth-and-long, Kyle Snyder completed a 21-yard touchdown pass to Alex Lewis with 10 seconds remaining and the Moscow Bears (3-5) earned a postseason berth while dashing Lakeland's state 4A playoff hopes with a 24-21 victory over the Hawks on Friday night at Bear Field.

Lakeland (5-3), trailing 14-0 at halftime, received a 12-yard TD run from Chadley Miller in the third quarter and took a 21-17 lead in the fourth on a pair of short TD runs from quarterback Derek Bayley.

The Hawks finish their season next Friday with a home game vs. Sandpoint.

PRIEST RIVER - Daniel Buck carried the ball 16 times for 145 yards and two touchdowns for Timberlake, which earned its seventh consecutive Intermountain League title with a win at Priest River.

"We beat a really good football team tonight," Timberlake coach Roy Albertson said. "I thought the last three quarters (our running game) did a very good job for us. I want to congratulate Priest River on their season. They played hard and we were fortunate to get some turnovers and take a tough win on the road."

Timberlake (4-4, 3-0) takes the top seed into the state 3A play-in game at the Kibbie Dome next Saturday against the fourth seed from District 3. Priest River (5-3, 2-1) takes the runner-up spot into the play-in game next Saturday against the third seed from District 3.

Neither foe has been determined yet.

ST. MARIES - Junior quarterback Luke Feasline ran for 114 yards and five different players rushed for touchdowns in the Lumberjacks' Central Idaho League win over the Maniacs.

"It was just a great win for us," St. Maries coach Craig Tefft said. "This is our best finish we've had in a long time. I'm proud of the kids and their effort tonight."

St. Maries (4-4, 1-1 CIL) travels to New Plymouth next week for a state 2A play-in game on either Friday or Saturday.

Quarterback Jacob Berman ran for two TDs and tossed four more for Wallace (6-2, 5-0 NSL), which hosts Lakeside next week.

Marshall Willms ran for two scores for Kootenai (5-3, 4-2), which travels to Clark Fork on Friday.
