Candidates for Flathead County commissioner will be featured tonight in a forum sponsored by the Daily Inter Lake.

The 7 p.m. gathering at Flathead Valley Community College is designed for voters to hear from the four candidates for two commissioner positions. The forum is in the Arts and Technology Building.

Invited candidates are Democrat Clara Mears-LaChappelle and Republican Gary Krueger, competing for the District 3 commissioner job, and Democrat Gil Jordan and Republican Cal Scott, who are vying for the District 1 commissioner position.

Scott and Jordan are running for the final two years of the term of Jim Dupont, who died earlier this year.

Krueger and Mears-LaChappelle are competing for a six-year term to succeed Commissioner Dale Lauman, who is retiring.

Although commissioners represent individual districts, they are elected by all voters in Flathead County.

Tonight’s forum is the final one in a monthlong election series sponsored by the Inter Lake. Two previous forums featured local legislative candidates.

Early voting started Oct. 9. Election Day is Nov. 6.
