The Bigfork High School volleyball team completed their regular season with a 2-6 record in the district.
The Vals won straight sets for the first time this season in Plains last Tuesday. They were 25-17, 25-14, and 25-19.
“It was a real team effort as several players stepped up,” coach Tracy Wicklund said.
Tessa Robertson held the team high with six kills and five aces during her solid performance. Marissa Hiza led the way with eight digs and five kills and was at the top of her game. Lana Berg dominated the net with a season best of seven blocks.
“It’s great to see the improvement from her,” Wicklund said. “It was great to see the Vals play with the aggressiveness they are capable of.”
The Vals victory over Plains ensured at least a fourth place finish in districts.
Saturday was Senior Night as the Vals took on Troy. The girls came on strong and matched Troy point-for-point in the first set, but ultimately lost all three sets. The match ended with 25-18, 25-14, and 25-16.
Wicklund said Troy had a good mix of experienced and young players, which made them a difficult team to face. She also said the Vals serving and receiving issues become evident when facing teams such as Troy.
During Saturday’s game, Tessa Robertson led the team with seven kills and three blocks. Marissa Hiza had two aces and six digs.
“We played with pretty good intensity as a team,” Wicklund said.
BHS will be hosting the District 7B tournament this Saturday. The Vals go up against Thompson Falls at 1:30 p.m. and the winning team will move on to face either Eureka or Troy after that.
