Gladys M. Aresvik, 86

Gladys M. Aresvik died peacefully on Oct. 19, 2012, while a resident at Ivy Court. She was born on June 8, 1926, in Sacramento, Calif., to Logan and Lora Montgomery.

As an only child, she moved to North Idaho with her parents in 1928. Gladys attended schools in the Post Falls/Coeur d’Alene area and graduated from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1943. At the age of 20, on Sept. 7, 1946, she married John Aresvik, who worked with his dad at John’s Bargain House. Gladys briefly worked at the Corner Grocery (then at Second and Wallace) and for the Naval Supply in the Spokane Valley.

Her passions included camping, crafting and traveling with their many friends from high school days. Gladys was a loving wife and mother who cherished family holidays and gatherings.

Gladys is survived by her husband, John; sons, Randy and Gary and their wives, Carol and Ruth; five grandchildren, Dawn (Aresvik) Shaffer, Steve, Chad, Veronica (Aresvik) Persling and Scott. She had six great-grandchildren.

Gladys loved the outdoors and took great pride in living her life in Coeur d’Alene.
