MCAA State Soccer: Stillwater wins 3-0; semis next

Stillwater Christian School tallied three goals in the first 13 minutes of action as the Cougars went on to blank Great Falls Home School 3-0 on Thursday in first-round soccer action at the Montana Christian Athletic Association state soccer tournament at SCS.
Zach Falk assisted on goals by Josh Bray at 2 minutes, 30 seconds, and Zack Walder at five minutes.
Noah Hashley finished the early scoring barrage at 13 minutes for the nine-time defending state champions.
“Both teams played good team soccer today,” SCS coach Tim Anderson said.
“Falk combined well with Bray and Waldher. The guys were moving and passing well despite the snow and cold conditions.
“Noah Hashley also played well from the center fullback position,” Anderson continued.
“GFHS played a great second half. They came out with purpose and energy and played us 0-0. Great start to this tournament.”
Stillwater Christian (16-5) moves on to face Heritage Christian School from Bozeman today at 12:45 p.m. Heritage Christian defeated Mission Valley Christian 5-1 on Thursday.
In the other bracket on Thursday, it was Helena Christian High School over Foothills Christian 4-3. Yellowstone County Home School had a bye. Those two schools meet today at 11 a.m. in the other semifinal matchup.
The championship match is set for Saturday at 12:30 p.m.
Stillwater has won 18 state championships since 1986.
