Kids carnival

The Boys and Girls Club in Columbia Falls will host a Halloween Carnival on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. between the club’s building and Glacier Gateway School on Fourth Street. The street will be closed for the event. Tickets for carnival games where everyone wins are 25 cents each or 25 tickets for $5. There will also be plenty of candy.

Trunk or treat

North Valley Baptist Church 1750 Talbott Road, in Columbia Falls, will hold a “Trunk or Treat” event in their parking lot on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

FVCC kids party

Flathead Valley Community College will hold a Children’s Halloween party in the Arts and Technology Building for ages 4-8 on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 5-7 p.m. with face painting, games, fortune telling and more. Costumes are encouraged. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Whitefish adults

Saloons in downtown Whitefish will hold their annual the Halloween costume contest on Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 6 to 10 p.m. with a $200 prize. Participants are charged $5, with proceeds benefiting the North Valley Food Bank. Contestants must receive a judge’s score from participating bars.

Horror theater

Flathead Valley Community College Theatre will present “The Rocky Horror Show” in the Arts and Technology Building on Wednesday, Oct. 31, at 7 p.m. Mature audiences only. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 students and seniors. For more information, call 756-3814.

Corn maze

The Haunted Trail at the Fritz Corn Maze, at U.S. 2 and Birch Grove Road, will be open Wednesday, Oct. 31, from 7-10 p.m. for ages 5 and older at $5 and 4 and younger free. For more information, call 755-4210.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
