MOSES LAKE - Hat tricks by Stephanie Overland and Caylah Lunning, and a goal each by McKenna Walker and Mikaela Loudon propelled Moses Lake to an 8-1 win over visiting Eisenhower at Lions Field Tuesday.

"It was a big night for Stephanie as she made up for her sister and our leading scorer (Alysha Overland) who tore a ligament in her ankle last week." coach Ric Char said. "We expect Alysha to be back for our district match on Tuesday."

Lunning's hat trick was her second of the season.

The win over the Cadets improves the Chiefs to 7-2 in CBBN league play, and lands the team in second place with one game left in the regular season.

Overland got the scoring train rolling for Moses Lake with three unanswered goals to put the Chiefs up 3-0 in the first 25 minutes of play.

Her first score of the match (Lizzy McGraw) came at the nine minute mark. Her second goal off an assist by McKenna Walker five minutes later put the Chiefs up 2-0. Overland's third goal (Caylah Lunning) found the back of the Cadet box 25 minutes into the match to stretch the score to 3-0.

Lunning put back to back goals on the board at the 37th and 38th minute of action off assists by McGraw and London Cleverly, to round out the first half scoring with Moses Lake on top, 5-0.

Lunning picked up where she left off in the first half of play with a goal at the 41 minute mark to push the score to 6-0. Walker's unassisted goal in the 54th minute of play made it 7-0 as the Chiefs offense was hitting on all cylinders.

Loudon increased Moses Lake's lead to 8-0 three minutes later.

A score by the Eisenhower's Holly Parlsey at the 66th minute of action put the Cadets on the board to avoid the shutout.

The Chiefs are back on the pitch at Lions Field tonight when Moses Lake hosts league leading and undefeated Davis in the last match of the regular season.

If the Chiefs beat the Pirates, they will secure the No. 2 seed heading into the district tournament that is scheduled to take place Oct. 30 and Nov. 3.

Should Moses Lake lose to Davis and Eastmont (6-3) beats Eisenhower Thursday, the Chiefs and Cadets will end the season tied for second in the CBBN standings as the teams split games against one another.

If that happens, the league would defer to the tiebreaker rules which stipulate the team that scored the most points on the season would finish as the higher seed.

If Eastmont and Moses Lake should happen to end up with the same points, goals against would be the determining factor.

"If we have to go to additional tiebreakers, I am confident they will be in our favor," Char said. "We are fortunate to be in a good spot to make the playoffs, so we'll try and take care of business against Davis and get ready for Tuesday."

If the Chiefs indeed have the tiebreaker system go in their favor, they will host Eastmont at Lions Field.

The match against Davis is scheduled to get underway at 6 p.m.
