COEUR d'ALENE - Yang Yang totaled 22 assists and four blocks as North Idaho College, ranked No. 8 in the NJCAA, defeated Utah State University-Eastern 21-25, 25-22, 25-19, 25-19 in Scenic West Athletic Conference volleyball Thursday night at Christianson Gym.

Allison Meehan had 30 assists, Rosie Robinson 20 digs for NIC (19-4, 5-4 SWAC), which closes out the regular season Saturday at home vs. Colorado Northwestern.

"We came out a little slow, but sure found our rhythm again," NIC coach Kandice Gregorak said. "Yang, Rosie and Allison Meehan were out-of-this-world amazing tonight. They had so much energy and really wanted this win. I'm proud of them."

USU-Eastern dipped to 11-15, 2-7.

* WRESTLING

NIC opens its season tonight at Montana State-Northern in Havre, Mont.

The Cardinals wrestle at the University of Great Falls on Saturday. Some schedules originally listed the Great Falls match as being on Thursday.
