Chiefs rally, but fall short

EVERETT, Wash. - Kohl Bauml scored twice and the Everett Silvertips defeated the Spokane Chiefs 6-5 in Western Hockey League action Friday night in front of 4,453 at Comcast Arena.

Spokane's Connor Chartier scored in the first, but the Chiefs fell behind 4-1 after the period.

The Chiefs lost Mitch Holmberg, their leading scorer, midway through the first when he was hit high by Everett's Nick Walters, who received a 2-minute roughing penalty. Holmberg will miss at least one game and will be evaluated for his head injury.

The Chiefs, trailing 6-2 after two periods, received two goals from Todd Fiddler and one from Dylan Walchuk in the third, but couldn't net the equalizer.

Spokane (9-5-0-0, 18 points), which outshot Everett 34-26, plays the Tri-City Americans tonight at 7 at the Toyota Center.
