COULEE CITY - Thunder Wellhausen hauled in two Drew Isaak passes for touchdowns, and the Warriors defense converted two Billygoat turnovers into scores as Almira/Coulee-Hartline (ACH) won its seventh game in a row, beating Pateros 48-6 at home Friday.

The win improved the Warriors to 6-0 in the Northeast 1B South Division and 8-1 overall.

"I though we played pretty well ... was happy with our overall effort," coach Brandon Walsh said. "Our kids played hard and we were a lot more physical than we had been the past couple of weeks."

The Warriors got on the board first on a 12-yard pass from Isaak to Wellhausen (pass failed) to take an early 6-0. An Isaak 4-yard dash (Mitchell Hunt run) upped the score to 14-0.

ACH made it 20-0 on a 68-yard pitch and catch from Isaak to Wellhausen (run failed) to round out the first quarter scoring.

The Billygoats struck first in the second 12 minutes of action on a 14-TD reception from Pat Evans (run failed) to close the gap to 20-6.

But the Warriors answered back on a 15-yard run by Hunt (Jon Heathman run) to increase their lead to 28-6. A 33-yard Hunt fumble return for a touchdown (run failed) pushed the score to 34-6 in favor of the home team and end the first half scoring.

"Mitch made a great play to scoop up the ball and score," Walsh said.

ACH put 14 points on the board in the third quarter on an Isaak 65-yard interception (pass failed ) and an Isaak 66-yard run (Isaak run) to push the score to 48-6. Neither team scored in the fourth quarter of action.

"Drew's pick came over the top of their receiver to steal the ball," Walsh said. "We practice that drill every week, so it was really fun to see that happen in a game time situation."

The win over Pateros gives ACH the No. 1 seed in the Northeast 1B South Division. The Warriors will host Cusick (6-0, 9-0), the No. 1 seed out of the Northeast 1B North Division Friday at 7 p.m, to determine the seeding for the district crossover game with the Southeast 1B Division.

"This will be our biggest game to date," Walsh said. "Cusick is a good football team. They are a fun rivalry as we've knocked each other out of the playoffs a number of times."
