Dorothy Eleanor Nelson, 92

Dorothy Eleanor Nelson, 92, of Post Falls, passed away Oct. 29, 2012. Dorothy was born Feb. 20, 1920, to Harry and Emma (Peterson) Rude in Missoula, Mont. As a child she moved to Wallace where she was raised with her brothers, Harold, John and Lee. Dorothy graduated from Wallace High School in 1939.

On June 5, 1943, she married Harry Nelson in Dimming, N.M. She returned to Wallace in 1944 waiting the return of Harry from the Army Air Corps while serving in World War II. Following his return they lived in Mullan and Wallace while raising their children, Gary, Carol and Doug. For a short time she worked as the office clerk at the Wallace Elk Lodge. After Harrry’s retirement, they spent their time in Hawaii, Lake Mary, Ronan, Mont., and Mesa, Ariz. With Harry’s passing in 2000, she spent winters in Arizona and summers in Osburn until 2008 when she moved to Post Falls to be closer to her daughter, Carol and husband Bob.

Dorothy became a resident of Living Springs in Post Falls in 2009 until the time of her passing.

Dorothy is survived by children, Gary (Sandy) Nelson of Tigard, Ore., Carol (Bob) Yost of Post Falls and Doug Nelson of Elko, Nev.; grandchildren, Kim Sassamin, Kevin Nelson, Teresa Yost, Darrin Yost, Marrkki Nelson and Melissa Williamson; and six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Donna Rude and Christy Rude of Osburn; several nieces and nephews, and her extended family of caregivers and residents at Living Springs.
