Soccer showcase this Saturday

The second annual Senior Showcase soccer games will take place at Memorial Fields, in Whitefish, on Saturday, Nov. 3. Last year, 800 spectators watched 80 of the valley’s best high school soccer players perform.

Game times for the high school seniors are 1:30 p.m. for the boys and 3 p.m. for the girls. Game times for the ex-collegiate and semi-pro players are 4:30 p.m. for the Flathead Rapids Women vs. Green Monarchs, and 6:15 p.m. for the Flathead Rapids Men vs. Missoula FC.

A bill requiring the state to electronically verify that all foreign nationals are in the U.S. legally before issuing a Montana driver’s license or ID card was signed into law by Gov. Brian Schweitzer on April 18.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
