Two new businesses in Riverstone plan to open this week near the northwest end of Main Street. And they're related with husband-wife owners.

Pick 6 Sportscards is in a 1,250-square-foot space at 2061 Main St. Owner Tom Gasper offers a large inventory of football, baseball, basketball and hockey sports cards (singles, packs and boxes), autographed memorabilia, unsigned merchandise including authentic helmets and jerseys and Wizards of the Coast products. He also has the supplies that collectors need to protect their items.

Gasper and one employee will host autograph sessions by visiting professionals and regional collegiate players. Originally from Colorado Springs, Gasper was educated in business management and retired from law enforcement in Las Vegas. He said the family came to North Idaho "to get back to nature and a small town with friendly people."

Named for the football play when a defensive player makes an interception and scores a touchdown, Pick 6 store hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 to 7 Saturdays. The website will be www.pick6sportscards.com.

Body Shop CDA is next door

Offering group fitness, personal training and nutrition coaching, The Body Shop CDA is one door east at 2055 Main St.

Megan Gasper and Jamie Lee's programs include Zumba, Zumba toning, Zumbatomics, yoga, pilates, cycling, group strength, TKB and PIYO. The schedules vary for garage-themed group fitness for women and men of all ages.

Both Las Vegas transplants, the women met during a Zumba class five years ago. Coming to North Idaho when her husband's work was transferred, Lee became licensed in Zumba and started Shake-It-Off Fitness classes. Gasper came to a Zumba event, fell in love with Coeur d'Alene and came here with husband Tom to raise their two sons.

Great Harvest moving north

Offering a variety of healthy breads and lunches, Great Harvest will move in mid-October to the lower north level of Sportsmen's Plaza in the northeast corner of Government Way at Neider Avenue (near Costco). The High Nooner restaurant now in that location will consolidate with its four Spokane locations.

Great Harvest offers honey whole wheat, Dakota, coconut, pumpkin and yumpkin breads and a variety of sweets, including muffins, scones and cookies, daily. Specialty breads vary each day. Lunches served 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. include sandwiches, paninnis, salads, soups, combinations and kids' meals. Gifts and baskets also are available.

Great Harvest has been at 2106 Government Way for 12 years. Owner Teresa Cipicchio has nine employees. Starting in 1975, Great Harvest has more than 200 stores with its headquarters in Dillon, Mont. Construction starts for Marriott

With a building permit for $7 million, construction has begun on the Marriott Springhill Suites Hotel at 2250 W. Seltice Way (next to Holiday Inn Express above Riverstone).

The four-story, 70,000-square-foot complex on 3.5 acres will include 118 suites, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, two patios and a three-hole putting green. It should be complete within a year.

Hang on for these Tidbits

• Watch for something new in front of Big R on Government Way.

• Check out a street that has several subdivisions such as Prairie Avenue or Thomas Lane. It's interesting to see the conditions of the landscaping and fences on the "common" properties" along the streets. Does that offer clues of any sort?

• Last weekend we visited the charming Central Idaho town of McCall on Payette Lake. Like Coeur d'Alene and Sandpoint, it's a gateway to both summer and winter activities. However, its lakeside street has several patio and windowfront eateries whereas Cd'A has Front Street, mostly with office buildings. We could do better.

• Style note: A single unit, such as a team or club, uses the "it" pronoun such as "The team won its game." The members make the pronoun plural such as "The Cardinals won their game."

• I'm reading a book about anti-gravity. I just can't put it down.
