Kalispell’s Logan Lindholm won his first title Monday at the 75th annual Labor Day golf tournament at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.
Lindholm vaulted into contention Sunday with a 7-under par 65 on the Championship 18 and then played a steady par round on the final day to win by three strokes over former champion Scott Desmarais of Calgary, Alberta.
Lindholm’s 204 total for 54 holes was six strokes under par.
Lindholm’s final round included four bogeys, birdies on Nos. 3 and 15 and an eagle on No. 11.
Desmarais made a big move up the leader board with four birdies in a five-hole stretch beginning on No. 4, but could muster only one bogey and eight pars on the back nine for a final round 70.
Former champion Grahm Schmaltz of Kalispell closed with a 75 to finish in third with a 208 total.
Second round co-leader Shawn Tucker of Whitefish struggled with six bogeys in the first 12 holes to shoot a 79 and finish in fourth with a 211 total.
On the ladies side, Kalispell’s Teigan Avery, age 14, won her second title in three years by holding off defending champion Kali Gordon of Calgary, Alberta, to win by four strokes.
Avery closed with a 79 to stretch her two-stroke lead on Gordon, who settled for a final round 81.
Avery had birdies on Nos. 1 and 12 during her final round to finish with a 238 total.
Cindy Reimers of Missoula finished third with a 244 score.
Sarah Moodie of Vancouver, B.C. was fourth with a 246 total.
