French composer, pianist and conductor Michel Legrand will perform at the Whitefish Middle School auditorium on Saturday, Sept. 15, at 7:30 p.m. He will be joined on harp by his wife Catherine Michel, one of the foremost harpists in the world. Legrand, 80, began his musical studies at age 10 when he entered the Paris Conservatory. He has composed more than 200 film and television scores, several musicals and made over a hundred albums, and won three Oscar and five Grammy awards. Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
