Fires force soccer cancellations

Both the girls and boys Columbia Falls soccer games were canceled due to wildland fires and smoke in the Belgrade and Livingston areas last week.

Both teams have games at home this week.

On Friday, the boys take on Billings Central at home at 4 p.m., while the girls play at 6 p.m. On Saturday, the boys face Laurel at 10 a.m., and the girls play Laurel at noon.

Uphill skiers need to be aware of avalanches on Big Mtn.

Whitefish Mountain Resort’s post-season uphill policy expired last week, but with significant snowfall and changing weather conditions, the resort reminds skier and hikers that avalanche hazards in the ski area’s permitted boundaries do exist.
