PREP VOLLEYBALL: Viks fall as Lewiston posts another 5A IEL road win

COEUR d'ALENE - Emilee Schlader had 13 kills and 19 digs as the Lewiston Bengals beat the Coeur d'Alene Vikings 25-23, 21-25, 25-15, 25-22 in a 5A Inland Empire League match on Tuesday at Elmer Jordan Court.
Lewiston, which beat Post Falls last week at The Arena, improves to 2-0 in the 5A IEL.
"We struggled blocking tonight and had way too many unforced errors," Coeur d'Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. "Lewiston's a good team, but we gave them a lot of unearned points."
Kayla McGlathery had 14 kills, three aces and four blocks, Miranda Miller 12 kills, Megan Ramseyer 17 assists and three aces, Ashley Hammons 18 assists and Amy Norris 15 digs for Coeur d'Alene (3-1, 0-1), which travels to Lake City on Thursday.
Makayla Wilson had 23 assists and Brett Hastings 13 kills and seven blocks for Lewiston.

Lakeland
COEUR d'ALENE - Kylie Curtis had six aces, five kills and 16 assists as the host Timberwolves defeated the Hawks 25-12, 25-16, 25-14 in nonleague play.
Kasey Widmyer added nine kills for Lake City (2-0). Kaity Widmyer had eight assists and six digs, and Haile Watson had six kills and three blocks. Madi Farrell had eight kills, Brittany Gay six.
"We served the ball tough tonight and had some great attacks from our middles," Lake City assistant coach Laura Tolzmann said. "It was a good team effort all around."
For Lakeland (0-4), Kaidan Kelsey had five kills and six blocks, Haley Rotchford had five kills, Kendra Rebel five assists, Kiesha Padilla four digs.
On Thursday, Lakeland travels to Sandpoint, and Lake City plays host to Coeur d'Alene.

Timberlake
MOSCOW - Lexi Posch had eight digs and 14 kills for the Tigers in a 25-15, 25-15, 19-25, 25-17 nonleague loss to the Bears at Bear Den.
"I thought we played well," Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. "We came out kind of slow in the first two sets, but came together in the third. Moscow's a good team and I'm not displeased with how we did. It gave us some things to work on."
Sydnie Malloy had 23 assists for Timberlake (0-2), which travels to Kellogg on Thursday.
Priest River d.
St. Maries
PRIEST RIVER - Beth Bykerk had 13 aces and seven kills for the Spartans in a 25-15, 25-11, 25-18 nonleague win over the Lumberjacks.
"Beth came out really focused and played very calm, but intense volleyball," Priest River coach Kati Bodecker said. "She not only served tough, but served smart."
Taryn Eldore had 19 assists for the Spartans (2-0), who travel to Rathdrum for the Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.
Mariah Gladden recorded seven kills and Kathy Epler had 16 assists for the Lumberjacks (2-5), who lost to Priest River at home last week.
"Our goal was simply to take one game away but we didn't come mentally prepared," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "We have a team full of seniors, but they're inexperienced and tonight showed we have some things to work on."
Madi McQueen came up with 11 digs and Lakin Anxo added two aces for St. Maries, which hosts Bonners Ferry on Thursday.

Kootenai
PLUMMER - Analesha George and Avery Brown-Sonder had six aces each as the Knights beat the visiting Warriors 25-14, 25-21, 25-10 in the North Star League opener for both schools.
"I thought we played well," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. "For our opening home match, the kids had a lot of fun and enjoyed themselves tonight."
Francine Hendrickx had 20 digs, Ruth Haynes eight kills and six blocks and Brown-Sonder 17 assists for Lakeside (2-0, 1-0 NSL), which hosts Wallace on Thursday.
Brie Benson had seven kills, Ellison Schultz 10 assists and Camille Grubham two blocks for Kootenai (0-1, 0-1), which hosts Clark Fork on Thursday.
"They kind of rallied in the second game," said Mitchell of Kootenai. "But I think our serve seemed to throw them off tonight."
