Glacier continues to stay on top of the high school golf scene with another standout effort Thursday at a triangular outing at Buffalo Hill Golf Club.
The Wolfpack had the best team totals for boys and girls, along with medalists in Ryan Porch and Teigan Avery.
Porch carded a 74 on the Championship 18 to finish one-shot ahead of teammate Cody Sherrill and two better than Logan Iverson, Kevin Talcott and Tom Mann, also from Glacier.
It was Sherrill’s best showing of the fall season.
Flathead’s boys had perhaps their best showing of the season.
“We’re proud of the effort put in by our top scorers (freshman) Ryan Keenan and senior Max Applegate,” Flathead assistant coach Roy Antley said.
Those two helped the Braves finish two shots better than Whitefish to land in second place.
Keenan tied for sixth with Whitefish’s Art Doorn and Glacier’s Greg Jones. All three shot 79.
Applegate was next with an 80.
Avery, fresh off a superb performance at the Labor Day golf tournament last weekend, won a tight battle with Erin Tabish of Whitefish with her round of 73.
Tabish was one-shot back.
Avery won her second Labor Day title, which was also held at Buffalo Hill.
Glacier’s Shea Stevens and Kaydee Aurich tied for third with 80s.
Hannah Davis claimed the fifth spot for the Wolfpack with her 83.
Flathead was led by Geneva Zoltek, Morgan Knutson and Michaela Murer. They all shot 94.
Up next for Flathead and Glacier is the two-day Helena Invitational, which begins next Thursday.
