PREP VOLLEYBALL: Timberlake opens league play with sweep at Kellogg

KELLOGG - Lexi Posch had nine kills and six digs for the Timberlake Tigers in a 25-11, 25-15, 25-15 win over the Kellogg Wildcats in an Intermountain League match at Andrews Gymnasium on Thursday night.

Sydnie Malloy had 29 assists and three kills, Cheyenne Gibson seven digs, Jessica Norlander six kills, five blocks and three aces for Timberlake (1-2, 1-0 IML), which competes at the Freeman tournament on Saturday.

"I thought we played well," Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood said. "We ran well on the court and are finally starting to mesh as a team. It was nice to see."

Kellogg falls to 2-3, 0-2 and travels to the Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.

SANDPOINT - Maddie Russo had a season-high six aces and 10 digs as the Bulldogs beat the Hawks 25-13, 25-17, 25-11 in a 4A Inland Empire League match at Les Rogers Court.

Beth Lewis had six kills, Hailey Olin five kills, Kennedy Search 25 assists and Maddie Suppiger two blocks for Sandpoint (3-2, 1-0 4A IEL).

Kayla Fahlenkamp had five kills and Erin Odgen five digs for Lakeland (0-5, 0-2).

Both teams will compete in the 22-team Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.

Bonners Ferry

ST. MARIES - Kathy Epler had 16 assists and Mariah Gladden had eight kills as the Lumberjacks beat the Badgers 25-9, 25-17, 28-26 in a nonleague match.

"We made a few changes to our lineup and our passing was really good," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "We were able to set the ball almost everywhere on the court tonight and our serving was much better. It was just an all-around good game by our girls."

Lakin Anxo had six kills and Maddie McQueen nine digs for St. Maries (3-5), which travels to the Lakeland Invitational on Saturday.

Kootenai

HARRISON FLATS - Mariah Miller had six aces and Annie Wurm nine assists as the visiting Wampus Cats beat the Warriors 25-21, 25-11, 25-14 in a North Star League match.

"We came out strong in the first game," Kootenai coach Jessica Hammond said. "But we lost the momentum and made some young mistakes."

Ellison Schultz had 14 assists, Brie Benson five kills and Camille Grubham three aces for Kootenai (0-2, 0-2), which travels to the Kendrick Invitational on Saturday.

Autumn Wagner had three blocks for Clark Fork (5-2, 2-0), which travels to Bonners Ferry next Saturday.

PLUMMER - Francine Hendrickx had 21 digs and Avery Brown-Sonder had 25 assists as the host Knights beat the Miners 25-15, 25-20, 25-20 in a North Star League match.

"We're still learning to play with a newer group," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. "We didn't play really well, but it was nice to see stats all the way through on all the players. All of them put forth a real good effort."

Christina Nilson had five aces and Ruth Haynes had eight blocks and 10 kills for Lakeside (3-0, 2-0 NSL), which travels to Mullan on Tuesday. A nonleague match previously scheduled for Saturday against Liberty of Spangle, Wash., was canceled and won't be made up.

MULLAN - Kami McKinnon had nine kills, eight assists and eight aces as the Tigers beat the Panthers 25-12, 25-9, 25-14 in a nonleague match at the Mullan Pavilion.

Sydney Koening had eight kills, Charli Sadler nine assists and Robbyn Trogden had three digs for Mullan (1-1), which hosts Lakeside on Tuesday.

Millie Schnebly had three kills and Lexi Young six assists for Coeur d'Alene Charter (1-3), which travels to Clark Fork on Tuesday.
