NIC ROUNDUP: No. 4 Cardinal volleyball team keeps winning, now 11-0

TWIN FALLS - North Idaho College, ranked No. 4 in the NJCAA, won the last two games to beat No. 3 College of Central Florida from Ocala, Fla., 24-26, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22,15-13 to wrap up a 4-0 weekend at the Starr Corporation Tournament at the College of Southern Idaho.
Earlier Saturday, the Cardinals downed Barton Community College of Great Bend, Kan., 24-26, 25-19, 22-25, 25-22,15-13.
Against the College of Central Florida, Yang Yang had 14 kills for NIC (11-0). Kaitlyn Molloy had eight blocks, Allison Meehan had 23 assists and four aces, Brooklyn Bradbury had 23 assists and 14 digs, "Rosie" Robinson 14 digs.
"We went point for point with Central Florida," NIC coach Kandice Gregorak said. "We knew going in it was going to be a tough game. We have a group of tough kids. When it gets tighter, they get tougher. ... They aren't afraid to go after it when it's a tight match, which is always refreshing to see."
Against Barton, Yang had 12 kills and five blocks, Robinson had eight digs, Bradbury 19 assists.
NIC hosts its own tournament Friday and Saturday.

POWELL, Wyo. - The Cardinals were unable to hang onto a lead in the second half for the second straight day, and settled for a tie with the Salt Lake Community College club team.
Christian Mbasi-Botuli scored on a penalty kick for NIC (1-5-1) in the 20th minute. Salt Lake tied it in the 78th.
"We're getting a feel for who we are," NIC coach Ken Thompson said. "We're a team that needs to get fitter, and needs to connect better in the attacking third. We're all over it, we're just not converting."
NIC plays host to Edmonds Community College of Lynnwood, Wash., on Tuesday.

POWELL, Wyo. - Former Lake City High standout Alyssa Allen scored what proved to be the deciding goal as the Cardinals defeated the club team from Salt Lake Community College.
Ellie Engel, the Sandpoint High product, set up the goal with a shot from inside the penalty area on the right side of the goal. The Salt Lake keeper made the save, but Allen put away the rebound.
In the third minute, Callie Martin sent a through ball to Emilee Cordon, who dribbled twice to get inside the penalty area and then blasted the ball past the right side of the Salt Lake goalkeeper.
NIC (3-3-0) plays host to Wenatchee Valley College on Wednesday.
