A BIG thank you to the good folks of Bigfork for supporting the sixth annual fundraiser “Brats, Burgers and Band” event for the Friends of Bigfork Fire on Sept. 7 at the Harbor Village Pavilion. This year we raised over $15,000 for our Volunteer Fire Department. Please allow me to thank the wonderful people who teamed up to make this possible.

Flathead Bank, Glacier Bank, Rocky Mountain Bank, Eagle Bend Golf Club, Bigfork Athletic Club, Bigfork Chamber of Commerce, UPS, and The Jug Tree.

All the golf and tennis tournament sponsors and participants, the wonderful folks who donated the raffle items that totaled over $3,500 in value, all who purchased raffle tickets and packed the pavilion for the BBQ.

Thank you as well, to everyone who thoughtfully donated money or gifts to our cause and to the members of Friends of Bigfork Fire for all your time and energy.

Lastly and most sincerely, thank you volunteer men and women of Bigfork Fire who give so much of yourselves to help protect us in our times of need.

Jim Sticka,

President of Friends of Bigfork Fire

Lake trout in the Flathead: The other side of the story

The column on non-native lake trout in Flathead Lake by Trout Unlimited in the Hungry Horse News on March 28 is misleading and inaccurate. I feel the “rest of the story” needs to be shared with you, our readers.
