DEMS: The next civil war

An article in The Press from the Sept. 6 (World/Nation) section heading reads, “Democrats change platform to include God and Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.” The embarrassing reversal was compounded by chaos and uncertainty on the convention floor.

The article goes on to say, “The chairman called for a vote on the changes, (Ordered by President Obama) and each time the yes and no vote seemed to balance out. On the third time the chairman ruled the amendments were approved, triggering boos from many in the audience. We would have to assume half of the delegates disapproved of the amendments with the vote being that close.” If the DNC made these last minute changes to ensure political correctness, it reeks of hypocrisy.

But then again, you could say, that this revelation from the DNC is a good thing, right? It is commonly accepted that Red states (RNC) typically believe in God and that Israel has a right to its sovereignty. And according to the Blue state delegates of the DNC from the article, half of them believe the same. Do the math, half of the nation want to include God and the rights of Israel in our governance. I would imagine The God our founders sought in creating this amazing America, was overjoyed to hear the DNC changed the platform at the last minute to include Him.

Our document of Independence from England declares. “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” Unalienable defined: “Endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights,” is the phrase made famous by the U.S. Declaration of Independence. Its intent was to express the truth that every person is a creation of God and has certain rights, simply by virtue of their being created by God. Therefore, those unalienable rights or privileges cannot be transferred or taken away by any man. Those rights as conceived in the Declaration, are “Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of Happiness.”

Can America remain greater than our differences seeking (Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness) when half of the nation does not believe that the one who gave the unalienable rights exists? The next civil war in America has already begun. Not another war between blue and gray states, but rather the conflict takes place on the convention floors of Blue and Red states engaged on the battlefield of belief systems. Can a worldview which believes in God on one hand, coexist with a worldview on the other hand, which does not believe in God? What will the outcome be of a nation who has lost connection from its Head?
