East Second St. construction open house
Whitefish Pilot | Hagadone News Network | UPDATED 12 years, 9 months AGO
An open house is set for next week to review the preliminary plans for reconstruction of East Second Street.
The city of Whitefish and Robert Peccia & Associates have completed survey and engineering work for the project, which will take place from Cow Creek to the WAG dog park. The open house is set for Wednesday, Sept. 19 at 7 p.m. at the Armory. City staff and engineers will make a presentation and be available to answer questions.
The preferred location of the new road is about 10 feet north of its current location. The project is set to include a new bike/pedestrian path from Armory Road to the entrance road for the dog park. Currently the path ends where Armory Road meets Second Street.
In order to complete the construction it’s expected that numerous existing trees within the right-of-way will be moved, especially along the north side of the road.
As part of the plan, a temporary access road will likely be constructed to connect Armory Road to Wedgewood Lane and Second Street.
