PREP VOLLEYBALL: McGlathery, Miller help Coeur d'Alene sweep Post Falls

COEUR d'ALENE - Kayla McGlathery and Miranda Miller had six kills each as the Coeur d'Alene Vikings beat the Post Falls Trojans 25-23, 25-23, 25-16 in a 5A Inland Empire League volleyball match on Tuesday at Elmer Jordan Court.

"Anytime you get a win in this league, it feels great," Coeur d'Alene coach Dee Pottenger said. "Especially against a program like Post Falls."

Ashley Hammons had nine assists, Megan Ramseyer five aces and Amy Norris seven digs for Coeur d'Alene (8-4, 1-2 5A IEL), which hosts Lakeland on Thursday.

Sydney Wiggins had 10 kills, Brenna Meehan 25 assists, Morgan Marshall four blocks and Savannah Hill three aces and nine digs for Post Falls (6-5, 0-2), which hosts Moscow and Reardan in a tri-match on Thursday.

Lewiston

LEWISTON - Kylie Curtis had 21 kills, 16 assists and 13 digs as the Timberwolves handed the host Bengals their first loss in 5A IEL play, winning 24-26, 25-18, 25-14, 28-26 at Booth Hall.

Natalie Taylor had nine kills, Haile Watson five blocks for Lake City (8-1, 2-0). Brittany Gay had 18 assists and 12 digs, Kaity Widmyer 12 digs.

"It's always tough to play down here," Lake City coach Laura Tolzmann said. "We had an off passing night and couldn't get a rhythm going."

Lewiston (2-1 5A IEL) had won at Coeur d'Alene and Post Falls.

Lake City travels to University High on Saturday.

Bonners Ferry

SPIRIT LAKE - Sydnie Malloy had 23 assists and two aces as the Tigers beat the Badgers 25-8, 26-24, 25-21 in an Intermountain League match.

"I thought we played a slower pace tonight than we did last weekend," said Timberlake coach Michelle Garwood, whose Tigers finished fourth at the Freeman tournament. "Bonners Ferry did a good job of serving, but we stuck in there and played hard, but it was a much slower pace than we played last weekend."

Lexi Posch had 10 kills and six digs, Jenna Hoffman six kills and four digs and Achaia Owens five digs and three aces for Timberlake (5-4, 2-0 IML), which travels to the Okanogan (Wash.) tournament on Saturday.

Lakeland

KELLOGG — Hailey Rotchford had 10 kills and Kaidan Kelsey had 10 kills and six blocks for the Hawks in 25-17, 23-25, 25-21, 25-20 loss to the Wildcats in a nonleague match at Andrews Gymnasium.

“We played really hard, we just made some inexperienced mistakes,” Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. “Every game of the match could have gone either way. Our hitters just struggled to finish with the ball when it counted — but it was a huge improvement from when we played them two weeks ago.”

Erin Ogden had eight digs and Kendra Rebal 15 assists and three aces for Lakeland (2-10), which travels to Coeur d’Alene on Thursday.

WALLACE — Brie Benson had 18 kills as the Warriors beat the Miners 24-26, 26-24, 25-17, 13-25, 18-16 in a North Star League match.

Ellison Schultz had 18 assists, four aces and two kills and Cami Grubham had three kills and two aces for Kootenai (1-2, 1-2 NSL), which hosts Coeur d’Alene Charter on Thursday.

“It was a really tight match,” Wallace coach Rachele Asbury said. “There was some mental mistakes on both sides and serving really determined the winner in all the games.”

Stephanie Hill and Stephanie TenEyck had six kills and Emily Nelson 14 assists for Wallace (0-4, 0-3), which hosts Mullan on Thursday.

MULLAN — Kami McKinnon had 14 kills, 10 assists and four aces as the Tigers beat the Knights 25-18, 25-19, 25-23 in a North Star League match at the Mullan Pavilion.

Brenna Priozok had eight kills, Ruth Haynes five blocks, Francine Hendrickx three aces and Avery Brown-Sonder 23 assists for Lakeside (3-1, 2-1 NSL), which travels to Liberty of Spangle, Wash., on Tuesday.

“Everything is coming together,” Mullan coach Dawn McKinnon said. “My kids played hard and it was a good volleyball match. Lakeside’s always good, but missed too many serves tonight.”

Charli Sadler had 16 assists and two aces and Sydney Koenig had six kills for Mullan (2-1, 2-1), which travels to Wallace on Thursday.

POST FALLS — Liz Bookamer had 14 aces for the Royals in a 25-9, 25-12, 25-20 win over the Jaguars in the Mountain Christian League opener for both at Real Life Ministries.

Breanna Clemans had 11 assists and Sydney Lawson had six kills and three blocks for North Idaho Christian (1-0, 1-0 MCL), which travels to Grace Bible on Friday.
