The Coeur d'Alene Sting under-9 boys (United): The Sting went undefeated at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint last weekend.
The Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers (White) 5-0, as Miles Jones scored a hat trick and Nicolas Mason and Noah Janzen scored once each.
The Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers (Black) 3-1. Miles Jones scored two goals, Noah Janzen one.
The Sting defeated the Sandpoint Strikers FC Red 4-0. Noah Janzen scored two goals, Miles Jones and Talon Mitchell one each.
Idaho Thunder U12 girls (Siers): The Thunder placed second at the Pend Oreille Cup.
The Thunder beat the Flathead SC White 3-1, the Soccer Xpress Jackson 5-2 and FC Spokane 3-2, then lost to the Boise Rush in the finals.
Thunder U14 boys (John): The Thunder finished third at the Pend Oreille Cup.
The Thunder tied the Sandpoint Strikers (Bock) 1-1, with Noah Feussier scoring for the Thunder. The Thunder beat the Lakeland Nighthawks (McDevitt) 1-0. Luke Denke scored for the Thunder. In the final game, the Thunder lost 1-0 to the FC Spokane (Pollock) U15.
Sting U10 Sounders: The Sounders finished second at the Pend Oreille Cup.
On Friday, the Sounders beat the Sandpoint Strikers 6-1. Dillien Duncan, Alexi Wilson, Abbie Lyman, Tate Hochberger, Holly Hudson and McKenzie Mattis each scored once for the Sounders.
On Saturday, the Sounders beat the Spokane Foxes U9 4-0, as Kameryn Becker scored a hat trick and Kiley Cutler scored once.
The Sounders tied Flathead Soccer Club 1-1 on Sunday. Abby Lyman scored for the Sounders.
Later that day, the Sounders lost 4-0 to the Spokane Foxes in the title game.
Sting U14 boys: The Sting started off its fall season in the Puget Sound Classic League with two wins.
On Saturday, the Sting defeated MVP Navy 98 6-0, with goals scored by Cole Fawcett, Riley Glover, Ezra Grossglauser, Caleb Kraut, Kade Martinelli and Travis Swallow. Ezra Grossglauser and Travis Swallow had assists and Tyler Rieken had two saves in the shutout.
On Sunday, the Sting defeated the UPSC FC Vikings 1-0. Tyler Rieken had four saves and the only goal was scored by Ezra Grossglauser, assisted by Cole Fawcett.
Sting U13 girls (Smith): The Sting took first place in the U13 girls Black Division at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint last weekend.
In pool play, the Sting dominated the Missoula Strikers-Munoz 6-1, Soccer Xpress-Jagne (Kuna) 3-1, the Idaho Thunder-Anderson 3-0 and, in the finals, the Sting beat the Spokane Foxes FC-Lungo 1-0.
Sting U14 girls (Inter): The Sting won two games in Seattle last weekend to open Puget Sound Premier League play.
The Sting beat the Kajumulo FC Farasi 98 1-0 on Saturday. Mariah Morgon scored on a Havana Johnson assist in the first half. The Sting defense, led by Ave Schrambach, McKenna Gilbert, Rachel Brendis, Bailey Lambert and Lillie Brott, held the Kajumula FC scoreless.
On Sunday morning the Sting beat the ISC Gunners 98 A 3-2. Maggie Vietri opened the scoring off a Caitlin Barber assist. Havana Johnson put a shot in the back of the net off a cross by Hailey Mindt to make the score 2-1. With two minutes left, Maggie Vietri scored again for the go-ahead goal.
Sting U13 girls (Everton): The Sting won its division last weekend at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sadnpoint.
On Friday the Sting beat Sandpoint 1-0 on a goal by Kari Greenbank, assisted by Lauryn Trueblood.
On Saturday they beat the Spokane Foxes-Davis, with Erika Boifeuillet and Summer Lepley scoring.
In the championship game they beat the Spokane Foxes-Leder in a shootout. The game was tied 1-1 in regulation and overtime, with Berkeley Baer scoring in regulation time. Erika Boifeuillet and Marley Cowin scored goals in a shootout, and keeper Capriel Halliday had three saves.
Sting U13 (Trapp) boys: The Sting went 2-2 at the Northwest Cup Aug. 17-19.
Last weekend the Sting went 0-2-1 at the Pend Oreille Cup.
Sting U10 (Wyatt 02) girls: The Sting went 2-2 at the River City Challenge in Spokane on Aug. 25-26, then went 1-2 at the Pend Oreille Cup last weekend in Sandpoint.
Thunder U10 boys (Sater): The Thunder went 5-0 to win their division at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint last weekend.
The Thunder beat the Spokane Pumas 7-1, the Sandpoint Strikers 6-1, the Coeur d'Alene Sting (Murphee) 2-1 and the Sting (Haynes) 9-2 to advance to the title game, where they defeated the Calgary Selects 1-0 for their fourth straight tournament championship.

The Sounders beat the Sandpoint Strikers FC White 6-1. Walker Jump scored twice and Joseph Sarkis, Sean Dremann, Cole Jaworski and Logan Robillard each scored once.
Sting U11 girls Timbers: The Timbers went 4-0 to win their bracket at the Pend Oreille Cup in Sandpoint last weekend.
The Timbers beat FC Spokane 10-0, the Spokane Foxes 1-0, the Moscow United 8-0 and, in the title game, beat the Spokane Foxes 3-1. Jordan Roth scored five goals for the Timbers, Lily Hare four, Catherine (Punky) James had three goals and one assist, Zoey Cox three goals and two assists, Megan Corette two goals, Kyla Currie and Liberty Croutch, two goals and an assist each, and Madison Sorsabal, Madyson Smith and Elizabeth Scarlett one goal each.
Sting U10 boys (Sunderland): The Sting went 2-2 at the Pend Oreille Cup last weekend in Sandpoint.
The Sting beat the Sandpoint Strikers (Lange) 4-1 and the Spokane Pumas FC (Moczulski) 4-1. The Sting lost to Idaho Thunder (Sater) 2-1 and then lost to the Castlegar Selects (Ihns) 3-1 in the semifinal match.
Connor Norris scored three goals in the tournament for the Sting, Max Anderson and Christopher Swider scored two apiece, and Owen Smith, Rylan Carter, and Cooper Larson had one goal each. Daniel Rojo had two assists and Max Anderson had one. Cooper Larson and Owen Smith had seven saves each, Mason Paskett had four, Noah Morton three.
Sting U11 boys (Bayern): The Sting finished third at the Pend Oreille Cup last weekend in Sandpoint.
The Sting defeated the Nelson (British Columbia) Selects 5-0. Ty Shaw scored two goals, Cameron Dance, Paul Wineinger and Jacob Janzen each scored once. Jacob Baker and Cameron Dance each had assists.
The Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 4-3, as Ty Shaw scored a hat trick and Sam Anderson added one. Jacob Baker, Cameron Dance and Ty Shaw each had assists.
The Sting then beat the Kootenay South Storm 2-1, on goals by Lance Riley and Cameron Dance, and an assist by Ty Shaw.
In its final game, the Sting lost 6-1 to the Sting (Meehan). Cameron Dance scored the lone goal for the Sting (Bayern).
Lakeland Nighthawks U14 boys (McDevitt): The Nighthawks finished second at the Pend Oreille Cup, losing to the FC Spokane U15 boys in the title game.
Brandon Lycan scored in regulation for the Nighthawks, but FC Spokane won the shootout 3-2. Dade McDevitt and Timmy Flodquist scored in the shootout for the Nighthawks.
JUNIOR TACKLE
The Bucs defeated the Jaguars 12-6 in a fifth-grade Coeur d'Alene Junior Tackle game.
The Bucs' scoring came on a 5-yard run by Ezra Grigg in the first quarter and a 1-yard run by Derek Pearse in the third quarter. The Bucs offense was led by Ezra Grigg with 130 yards rushing, Logan Jeanselme with 95 yards and Derek Pearse with 50 yards. Defensive standouts were Dylan Virgil with 9 tackles (3 for loss), Patrick LeSarte with 8 tackles (4 for a loss) and Justin Gies with 5 tackles (2 for loss).
The Raiders defeated the Steelers 36-6 in a fifth-grade Coeur d'Alene Junior Tackle game last Saturday.
The Coeur d'Alene Packers defeated the Coeur d'Alene Chargers in a sixth-grade Coeur d'Alene Junior Tackle game. Matt Jobes, Jonah Robinson, Jorden Moe and Jacob Krous each scored for the Packers, and Zane Lettau threw a touchdown pass.
The Post Falls Panthers played the Silver Valley Storm to an 8-all tie in seventh-grade play in the Coeur d'Alene Junior Tackle league.
Quin Bennett and Chase Cripps had interceptions for Post Falls, and Nick Wilson recorded a sack. Tackle leaders were Quin Bennett (13), Cameron Williams (8), Matthew Vasquez (6), and Jack DeWitt (5). The Panthers' lone touchdown was scored on a pass from Nate Buer to Quin Bennett.
JV SOCCER
Coeur d'Alene's boys defeated Post Falls 3-0 on Sept. 4.
Kenny Brown broke a scoreless tie in the 74th minute, on an assist by Pete Rau. Matt Robitaille found the net 2 minutes later, unassisted. Brown ended the scoring in the 78th minute with an assist going to Lane Thompson. Garett Boyce posted the shutout with seven saves.
The best save, however, went to Matt Mueller as after Boyce had blocked the initial shot. The ball deflected, rolling straight toward the net. Mueller cleared the ball out with a strong run.
On Sept. 6, Coeur d'Alene won 3-1 at Lakeland. Devon Cole gave Lakeland the early lead. Andrew Nicklay answered for the Vikings on a crossing pass from Lucas Garman. Brown but Cd'A ahead on an unassisted goal. Lane Thompson closed out the scoring on an assist from Konar Skindlov.
Coeur d'Alene won 4-1 at Lewiston on Saturday. Lewiston's Kian Shell scored on a penalty kick to give the Bengals the early lead. In the 36th minute, Brown answered for the Vikings off of a corner kick from Skindlov. The first half ended with a 1-all tie. In the 53rd minute Cole O'Brien scored unassisted. Robitaille scored with an assist by Nicklay in the 69th minute. Brown closed out the scoring in the 78th minute with Nicklay assisting.
SELECT SOFTBALL
The Dry Ice Softball Organization of North Idaho will be having tryouts for the 10-and-under and 12U fastpitch softball teams for the 2013 season.
Tryouts are Saturday and on Sept. 22, both from 4:30 to 6 p.m. We are looking for a few players to complete our teams. The team will play during the spring and summer of 2013.
Girls must be 10 years old or less as of Jan. 1, 2013, to play for the 10U team, and age 12 or less as of Jan. 1, 2013 to play for the 12U team.
These are ASA teams and play a competitive schedule of at least six weekend tournaments. Most are local, with a few out of town.
Our season runs from around May 1 until early July.
Cost is $75, which includes registration as an ASA player and team, and insurance. The team supplies uniforms and bat bags for the girls also.
