Glacier boys first, girls second at Helena Invitational golf

HELENA — Glacier senior Logan Iverson outshot teammate Ryan Porch on Friday at Fox Ridge Golf Course to win the Helena Invitational.
Iverson shot a second-round 71 to tie Porch in the overall score at 140, winning a tiebreaker to take the medal. Porch shot a 72 after leading the field with a 68 on Thursday. Glacier teammate Cody Sherrill finished just behind the pair in fourth place, shooting a course low 70 in the second round to finish at 145.
The great showing by the trio gave Glacier an comfortable team win, beating Billings West by 19 strokes with a total of 577.
Flathead placed sixth place as a team, led by Max Applegate’s 152, good for 11th place after a second-round 80.
Glacier’s girls wound up just two strokes shy of first place as Billings Senior claimed the title with a total of 686. The Wolfpack shot the lowest team score of all seven teams on Friday, carding a 350 to make up three strokes on Senior and place second.
Wolfpack freshman Teigan Avery was also two strokes off the lead, finishing in third place with a total score of 163. She shot an 84 in the second round.
Glacier’s Kaydee Aurich was fifth overall with a round of 87 for a 172 total, and Hannah Davis finished with an 88 to place sixth at 173.
Mikaela Mauer led Flathead, which wound up sixth as a team, shooting a 96 on Friday to finish at 191.
