She also had a brother, Edward Eugene, 1946; Mary Jeannette, 1959, and the late Julie Ann Richardson, 1960, and who passed away in 1997. Her first husband, Charles D. Nethaway, Jr., was also in the Army, and they married in Germany in 1965 and traveled extensively in Europe. They had three children, Stephanie Aileen (Nethaway) Cruickshank and Erik Delos Nethaway and the late Daniel Edward Nethaway, 1975-1983. That marriage ended in divorce in 1974. In 1976, Diana married Albert M. Nixon, and after one child that was still-borne, they had four children: Jennifer Suzanne, Rebecca Kathleen, Michael David, and Brian Christopher. Diana and Al married in 1976, and Al passed away at age 71 in 1997 at the Old Soldier’s Home (Washington), now known as the Armed Forces Retirement Home. He was a Korean and Vietnam war veteran and suffered from Agent Orange.
All six children came to Coeur d’Alene to be with her during her final days and were at the English Funeral Home for a viewing. Later, Diana will be cremated and her urn will be buried next to Daniel Edward’s grave at Wyuka Cemetery in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Besides her six children, she leaves many grandchildren. Most of all, Diana was a devoted mother and grandmother, and the children were her top priorities. After the viewing, the family will get together for a private dinner and will share many pictures that help capture Diana’s long and loving life.
