Adams County Fair ends on busy note

OTHELLO - From the stock sale to the parade to the rodeo, the Adams County Fair wound up with a whirl of activity Saturday.
Results from the 45-minute parade were not available at press time. From the Othello High School band to a Cinderella carriage to the Othello Fire Department, parade participants walked and rode, in one case, in a motorized recliner, down Main Street.
The street was so full it was almost impossible to get across, according to one boy who was late to the festivities.
"Do you know what we had to go through just to cross the street?" he chided his friend, who teased him about being late.
The fairgrounds were full of people taking in the exhibits, eating barbecued chicken from the Othello Rotary Club and hamburgers at the 4-H booth; parents lined up their babies for the "diaper derby" and buyers clustered around the stock sale ring. The chuckwagon exhibitors answered questions from fascinated passers-by (see separate story), as did the mounted shooters, who performed in the rodeo arena Saturday evening.
