Harriers take second at Frenchtown meet

The Columbia Falls cross-country team ran at two out-of-town meets last week.
At the Frenchtown meet on Sept. 12, the boys and girls teams both took second place. The Frenchtown course is also where the divisional meet will be held later this season.
Top runner for the boys was Zayne Brunz, who took 11th with a time of 17:45. Other Wildcat runners included Seth McCall, 14th at 18:02, Shonn Roberts, 15th at 18:04, Glenn Morden, 20th at 18:28, Jayce Fagerland, 29th at 19:14, Zac Fry, 35th at 19:25, and Kyler Burns, 44th at 20:14. The Wildcats had 88 points. Hamilton won the meet with 17.
“The boys team is coming together,” coach Richard Menicke said. “We need to stay healthy and keep improving.”
Top runner for the girls was Meredith Stolte, who took seventh with a time of 20:38. She was followed by Samantha Mundel, 20:54, Tori Price, 14th at 21:18, Brittany Swartz, 24th at 22:51, Sadie Panasuk, 36th at 24:45, Mary Gross, 37th at 24:46, and Emily Getts, 45th at 26.17. Hamilton won with 29. Columbia Falls had 91.
“All the girls ran season-best times,” Menicke said.
At Ronan, the teams faced some tough Class AA competition. Top runner for the boys was Brunz at 17:09, good for 35th place. Top runner for the girls was Stolte, who took 21st with a time of 20:37.
The teams travel to Polson on Saturday.
