Lake City rallies past Post Falls in 5

COEUR d'ALENE - Brittany Gay had 21 assists and 13 digs and Lake City rallied to win the final two games and beat Post Falls 25-18, 19-25, 9-25, 25-16, 15-11 in a 5A Inland Empire League volleyball match Tuesday night at Lake City High.
Kylie Curtis had 18 kills, 15 digs and three aces for Lake City (9-2, 2-1 5A IEL). Madi Farrell had six kills, Kasey Widmyer 10 digs, Kaity Widmyer seven assists and eight digs.
"It was an up and down match for us," Lake City assistant coach Laura Tolzmann said. "I'm glad we were able to battle it out."
Dani Failor had eight kills and eight blocks, Savannah Hill eight kills and 11 digs, Sydney Wiggins seven kills and four aces, Brenna Meehan 28 assists and Amy Booth 12 digs for Post Falls (6-9, 0-3), which competes in the Bonneville/Hillcrest tournament on Friday and Saturday in Idaho Falls.
"I thought we passed really well and dug the ball really well tonight," Post Falls coach Willow Hanna said. "It was a well-fought match tonight."
Lake City travels to Lakeland on Thursday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Kathy Epler had 23 assists and two blocks as the Lumberjacks defeated the Panthers 25-20, 25-16, 25-11 in the Central Idaho League opener for both at Holy Family Catholic School.
"I thought we started slow, but started to pick up the tempo in the second game," St. Maries coach Missy Asbury said. "I thought Mariah (Gladden), Lakin (Anxo) and Kristina (Halverson) played well offensively and Maddy (McQueen) played well defensively."
Mariah Gladden had 12 kills and three blocks, Lakin Anxo six kills and four digs, Maddy McQueen seven digs and Clarissa Stephenson four digs for St. Maries (6-8), which hosts Timberlake on Thursday.
It was the inaugural CIL match for St. Maries, which dropped down from the 3A Intermountain League this year.
No statistics were reported for Coeur d'Alene Charter (1-5), which hosts Wallace on Thursday.

HARRISON FLATS - Kami McKinnon had six kills and seven assists as the visiting Tigers beat the Warriors 25-23, 25-20, 25-15 in North Star League play.
Sydney Koenig added seven kills, Charli Sadler five assists for Mullan (4-1, 3-1 NSL), which plays host to Clark Fork on Thursday.
"They came out, especially in that third game, and hit the ball well, and we didn't answer with any blocks," Kootenai coach Jessica Hammond said.
Brie Benson had 15 kills, Ellison Schultz 21 assists, Austin Andersen three digs for Kootenai (2-6, 1-3), which plays host to Lakeside on Thursday.

SPANGLE, Wash. - Brenna Priozok and Ruth Haynes had five kills each as the Knights beat the Lancers 25-18, 12-25, 25-18, 25-16 in a nonleague match.
"It was a well-played match," Lakeside coach Jan Mitchell said. "It was good to see an all-around team effort tonight."
Analesha George had eight aces, Kim Duncan 11 digs, Sheyenne Shamburg 16 digs and Avery Brown-Sonder 21 assists for Lakeside (4-1), which travels to Kootenai on Thursday.

HAYDEN - Courtney Lawson had 23 assists as the Royals beat the Lions 25-23, 25-10, 25-16 in a Mountain Christian League match at Project CDA.
Sarah Ployhar had 10 kills, Ashlyn Batchelor seven digs and Sydney Lawson six aces for North Idaho Christian (3-1, 2-1 MCL), which faces House of the Lord on Thursday at Project CDA.
