COEUR d'ALENE - Kevin Hampson gave the Coeur d'Alene Vikings the lead in the 72nd minute, but a late goal by Jeremiah Gagnon for the Sandpoint Bulldogs in the 80th minute concluded the nonleague game in a 2-2 tie Thursday.

"We definitely came out a little flat," Coeur d'Alene coach Jeff Lake said. "We're a little disappointed with our effort. We responded in the second half, but gave up a goal in the final minutes. Sandpoint played hard and gave us a good game. They didn't give up and it paid off with them scoring in the 80th minute."

OROFINO - Brett Dickman recorded a hat trick for the shorthanded Lumberjacks in an Intermountain League win against the Maniacs.

Blake McGregor had 12 saves for St. Maries in place of starting goalkeeper Cody Posselt, who was unable to play due to illness on Wednesday. The Lumberjacks only had 12 players available for the match.

"Blake had a great game considering he's our team manager, but he had to play up," St. Maries coach Chris Renaldo said. "He stepped up and played in goal and the defense made sure he didn't have a lot of goals on him. He played for us last year, but decided he wasn't going to play this year. We only had 12 players and he had all his 10 practices, so we asked him to play and he did."

Austin Cordell had a goal and three assists for St. Maries (5-4-0), which hosts Valley Christian on Saturday.
