Louisiana Tech turned six Illinois turnovers and a 284-yard, four-touchdown night from quarterback Colby Cameron into a 52-24 road upset of Illinois on Saturday at Champaign, Ill.

Cameron's favorite target was Quinton Patton who caught six balls for 164 yards and two touchdowns for the Bulldogs.

Illinois (2-2) turned the ball over three times in the first quarter and the Bulldogs (3-0) cashed in for an early 21-7 lead.

Cameron and Patton connected on a pair of early third-quarter touchdowns that put the Bulldogs up for good, 35-17.

After missing the past two games with a sprained ankle, Illinois quarterback Nathan Scheelhaase was ineffective and left the game in the first quarter. Reilly O'Toole was 19 of 25 for 120 yards in his place.

The Bulldog defense sacked Illinois' quarterbacks five times.

Illinois climbed back into the game in the second quarter, turning a 21-7 deficit to a manageable 21-17 while holding the Bulldogs to three yards of offense.

The Bulldogs doused whatever spark the Illini felt as they came out of the locker room for the third quarter. And, like everything else Louisiana Tech did, it happened fast.

Utah State 31, Colorado State 19: At Fort Collins, Colo., Kerwynn Williams set career highs with 21 carries for 205 yards and two touchdowns in leading Utah State past Colorado State (1-3).

The Aggies (3-1) are off to their best start since winning their first five games in 1978. They've outscored their opponents 51-0 in the first quarter and haven't given up a touchdown in the first half.

New Mexico 27, New Mexico State 14: At Las Cruces, N.M., Kasey Carrier ran for 129 yards and one touchdown on 21 carries to lead New Mexico (2-2) past New Mexico State (1-3).

San Jose State 38, San Diego State 34: At San Diego, David Fales threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Chandler Jones with 50 seconds remaining to lift the Spartans (3-1) past the Aztecs (2-2).

Texas State 41, Stephen F. Austin 37: At San Marcos, Texas, Shaun Rutherford completed 19 of 22 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns, ran for another score, and the Bobcats (2-1) beat the FCS Lumberjacks (1-3).

UTSA 56, NW Oklahoma State 3: At San Antonio, Evans Okotcha and David Glasco II ran for two touchdowns apiece and Texas-San Antonio (4-0) routed the NAIA Rangers (0-4).
