50th Anniversary

Dan and Sharon Beaudry celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner at the Steam Plant Grill in Spokane.

The couple and their four children lived in Kenai, Alaska, for 27 years before retiring to the Spokane area, and now reside in North Idaho.

The couple were married Sept. 12, 1962, at St. Patrick's Church in Spokane. Their children are Matt Beaudry (Lisa), Lisa Barber (Tom) and Lora Seaman. A son, Shane, died in Alaska. They have 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Evelyn and Willem Huender

50th Anniversary

Evelyn and Willem Huender, of Coeur d'Alene, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Sept. 22, 2012.

Evelyn and Willem are both retired. Willem was an entrepreneur and landlord.

They have three children, Spencer Huender of Athol, Mark Huender (married to Elaine Huender) of Rathdrum and Kim Huender of Coeur d'Alene; and one grandchild, Leif Huender of Coeur d'Alene.

The family went on an Alaskan cruise to celebrate.

Mary Blankenburg

100th Birthday

Family from all over the nation came together with the staff at Rose Terrace Country Homes in Spirit Lake on Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, to celebrate the 100th birthday of Frances Mary Blankenburg.

"Fran" was born on Sept. 19, 1912, in San Bernardino, Calif. She was the youngest of four girls and went to the University of Redlands for a teaching degree. She married, had three children, two of whom are still living, lived in various cities in California and eventually retired to Oregon. Her husband died in 1993 and in 2002, she moved to Athol to live with her daughter and son-in-law.

For the past nine months, she has been cared for at Rose Terrace. She started painting in her 50s, had many years of traveling the world, enjoyed playing the piano and to this day continues to read, enjoying her family plus interacting with those around her.

Attending the event were her two daughters, all seven of her grandchildren, many of her 23 great-grandchildren, all four great-great-grandchildren and other family members.

Dorothea Notter

90th Birthday

Dorothea Notter, of Coeur d'Alene, will be celebrating her 90th birthday today, Sept. 23, 2012. She was born Sept. 23, 1922, in Oregon.

Laelah Rayne Clark was born at 2:09 p.m. July 10, 2012, to Angela and Gary Clark of Post Falls. She weighed 6 lbs. 13 oz. and was 20 inches long. Sisters are Alexis, Tailyn and Carrigan. Maternal grandparents are Kenneth Knapp and the late Beverly Knapp. Paternal grandparents are Alicia and Lonnie Cargile, and the late Gary L. Clark.

Driggs Sren Weitz was born at 638 a.m. Aug. 12, 2012, to Tassie Magrath and Steve Weitz of Rathdrum. He weighed 9 lbs. 10 oz. and was 21 inches. Sister is Korynn Weitz. Brothers are Brody and Crue Weitz. Maternal grandparents are Becky and Ben Suttlemyre, and Barney and Sarah Magrath. Paternal grandparents are Steve and Penny Weitz.

Evelyn Jane Toal was born at 8:56 p.m. Sept. 9, 2012, to Justine D. and Austin W. Toal of Post Falls. He weighed 6 lbs. 15 oz. and was 19.5 inches long. Sister is Siren. Brother is Callahan. Maternal grandparents are Mike and Tana Braman. Paternal grandparents are Gary and Connie Toal.

MILITARY

Navy Seaman Joshua T. Fletcher, son of Marlene Fletcher of Athol and Frank Fletcher of Sacramento, Calif., recently completed Gunner's Mate "A" school and was selected honor graduate at the Center for Surface Combat Systems Unit, Great Lakes, Ill. This outstanding academic achievement and is a reflection of his self-motivation.

During the course, Fletcher received intense training in the theory, operation and maintenance of Navy shipboard guns and missile launching systems.

Fletcher joined the Navy in January 2012.

Navy Seaman Apprentice Kelsey N. Verburg, daughter of Jill K. and Scott A. Verburg of Post Falls, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.

During the eight-week program, Verburg completed a variety of training which included classroom study and practical instruction on naval customs, first aid, firefighting, water safety and survival, and shipboard and aircraft safety. An emphasis was also placed on physical fitness.

Verburg is a 2010 graduate of Apple Valley Christian School of Apple Valley, Calif.
